Choose and Book project work at Leeds MSK and Rehabilitation Services now fully completed

For the past 5 months, Pricare has been working closely with NHS Leeds Community Healthcare to migrate some of their larger services onto the Choose and Book platform. This will enable GPs to book appointments directly with the service for their patients at the click of a button. The services now live are MSK Physiotherapy (tiers 1 and 2, ESPs and Doctors), MSK Podiatry and Biomechanics.

CCGs want more information about commissioning support

Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) want more information about the type of commissioning support services that are available to them, a survey has revealed.

The survey published today revealed that 59% of CCGs want more information about the choice of commissioning support available to them while 61% want more clarity on the types of services on offer.

GPs back industrial action over pension reforms

A total of 78% of GPs have backed industrial action over pensions on a turn-out of 53%.

63% of the 17,561 GPs who voted in the ballot, voted yes to taking strike action and 78% backed taking industrial action short of a strike. The number of GPs who voted represented 53% of the total GP BMA membership.

BMA sets 21 June as date for industrial action

The BMA Council has decided to take industrial action for the first time in nearly 40 years over changes to the pension scheme.

Council members made the decision to take industrial action over pension changes rather than strike action this morning after the results of the ballot published today revealed 78% of GPs backed industrial action on a turn-out of 53%.

The Summary Care Record (SCR) Permission to View functionality has now been piloted by TPP

With the patient's consent, users of TPP SystmOne GP can now upload a summary version of a patient's record to the NHS spine which can in turn be viewed by any other parties caring for the patient, again with the patient's consent. This also applies to non-GP units including Out of Hours and Community services.

Practice boundaries pilots in disarray as no PCT meets April deadline

Exclusive: Not a single practice has begun offering commuters the chance to register near their work under the Government's much-trumpeted ‘patient choice' pilot scheme.

The Government has previously said the scheme to test the abolition of GP practice boundaries would begin ‘during April 2012', but some areas say they won't be ready until later in the year.

Face-to-face consultations by GPs ‘no longer sustainable’

General practice is ‘no longer sustainable' in its current form, with a squeezed workforce, increasingly complex demands and a shifting financial landscape requiring GPs to radically alter way they work, a new report has claimed.

An analysis by the Deloitte Centre for Health Solutions says general practice will be increasingly stretched by an ageing workforce, a shortage of junior doctors being trained to replace them, rising life expectancy and increasingly complex long-term conditions.

Government blocks release of NHS reforms risk register

Ministers have vetoed the release of the risk register outlining the possible threats of its controversial NHS reforms, saying its publication would undermine the ‘safe space' required to formulate policy.

The move comes after the Government recently lost an appeal against the Information Commissioner's ruling that the register should be published, but has angered Labour and other critics of the health act, who have insisted that the Government must lay bare the risks posed by its reform agenda.
